  • Drive by – The dam comes to AVA for the breeding and returns home same day. Crias at side are obviously welcome.

A separate breeding pen is set up on “neutral ground” on fresh grass within site of our herd for the
comfort of the visiting dam but outside of the alpaca pastures to create a bio-secure barrier for all.
The dam and cria are allowed to acclimate while the sire is retrieved and the breeding is conducted.
The visiting dam is allowed to rest and relax as long as desired before traveling home. Grass and fresh
    water are offered as requested.

This option allows the dam and cria to return to their home herd and is less stressful than boarding at
a different farm. Rebreedings will be provided if needed until the pregnancy is settled.

The dam owner is responsible for ensuring that the dam is receptive prior to transport.

A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required to include BVD for dam and cria, speculum exam
for proven females and digital exam for maidens as well as a general health exam.

          Driveby: $4000  Drive-By Breeding Agreement

  • Mobile – Lancaster is brought to your farm for the breeding. A separate breeding area on
    “neutral ground” is requested.

This option allows the dam and cria to stay home for the breeding and experience no stress of travel.

Liberal distance limits apply. There is also the option to meet part way. Please inquire.

The dam owner is responsible for ensuring that the dam is receptive prior to transport.
Two breeding attempts are included in the fee.

         Mobile:   Negotiable Mobile Breeding Agreement

  • Boarded Breeding and Care – The dam (and cria if applicable) comes to AVA and stays
    up to 60 days.

This option allows the dam (and cria) to stay on the farm with Lancaster until the pregnancy is
well settled before traveling back home.

A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required to include BVD for dam and cria,
speculum exam for proven females and digital exam for maidens as well as a general health exam.

We understand that the care your moms and crias receive when they’re away from home
is as important to you as the herdsire you select. We’ve developed our boarded breeding
offering to assure the best care for your female and cria.

      1. Supervised pen breeding to assure pregnancy, prevent over breeding & provide
reliable breeding records and due dates.

      2. The same loving care we give to our own herd. Moms and crias are checked many times
each day and weighed regularly to assure moms maintain weight and crias grow as they should. Routine care for moms and crias, such as worming and nail trimming included in 60 days free board. We’ll provide our feed at no charge or use yours if you prefer.

      3. Our farm manager, Debbie Potter is an alpaca breeder as well and provides great care in addition to ourselves.

      4. We’re fortunate to be served by a vet practice with two large animal vets who are interested and attend yearly training about camelids. They are available on-call 24 hours a day.

      5. Regular e-mail updates often including photos.

      6. We have a separate barn with quarantine area for incoming dams and crias to insure the
      best possible bio-security.
